The CTW piston and piston head head has a weakness that is fairly simple to fix if you are a bit handy. I will show you a few steps that may help you to get a more reliable cylinder unit!

I have added a suiting wide metal disc to the assembly that fits smoothly inside the piston. This will fasten the piston head to the piston in a better way and will make it a stronger unit. The piston spring guide will also be fastened way stronger than in stock form, now metal to metal and not metal to plastic..

Here you se the piston head and piston layed out on the workbench..

Here comes the vital part. Add blue threadlock (medium) to the threads on the bolt fastening the piston to the piston spring guide!!

Put the metal disc inside the piston and now fasten the piston head to the piston spring guide using two phillips screwdrivers tightly.

Here you can see how it looks from the inside once everything is fitted correctly.

I noticed that the piston was completly dry in stock form, so I decided to apply some Madbull silicone cylinder grease.

Apply a thin layer to the O-ring part around the piston head as shown here.

Now add a thin layer of grease to the guides on both sides of the piston.

You can grease up the insides of the cylinder a bit too if you prefer. Once done accemble the spring and piston inside the cylinder and tighten the nozzle unit to complete the whole cylinder unit and be shure to leave the unit alone for about 12hrs so the threadlock gets time to set..

Hope this will help people to get a more reliable funktioning CTW cylinder unit..

great work there, keep it up! Very Happy
LE: it should be included in a starting guide or a maintenance/upgrade guide (new sticky topic)

It is 13mm diametre and 0,7mm thick aluminium type of washer disc. Senter hole is 4mm. I guess any type of washer with about the same dimentions will work just fine..

Djez..what are you on..you are WAY OFF! Please read the first post! The point is to get metal to metal and not metal to plastic..

If you dont understand the point of the mod please dont go posting false information and photos in this thread that has nothing what so ever to do with the mod and the way it is done the right way! Please try asking questions to why the disc have to be 4mm and not 5mm instead..

If you still dont understand...the point is NOT to get the disc on the outside of the spring guide (piston side), but in fact between the spring guide (piston side) and the piston plastic to get the metal of the spring guide (piston side) to the disc and not the plastic piston. Otherwise it would only serve as a spring spacer. And that is not the intent of this mod!

By posting a photo of the spring guide (piston side) you only show that the center hole of the disc needs to be smaller than 5mm due to the fact that the spring guide itself is 5mm......get it?

Just to be clear and so you can better understand I have made a quick graphic sketch of the setup with the piston head, piston, disk and front spring guide. Hope this gives you an idea of what you are after..
